VISHC PI JOINS REGIONAL TEAM AWARDED A $10,000 MICCAI GRANT FOR HEALTH EQUITY IN CARDIAC CARE

A key highlight of the project is that it will be piloted in Vietnam, marking an important step in translating advanced cardiovascular AI research into real-world clinical contexts within emerging healthcare systems.

Dr. Pham Huy Hieu and an international research team from Singapore and Malaysia have received a USD 10,000 award from the 2026 MICCAI Society Awards for the Advancement of Health Equity for a collaborative cardiovascular AI research project.

The award recognizes their joint research project titled:

“ASEAN-HeartTwin: Validating Cardiac Digital Twin Models for Sudden Cardiac Death Risk Prediction of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Across Diverse Healthcare Systems.”

Project Team

The awarded project brings together a strong, interdisciplinary team from across the region:

  • Lei Li, (lead and PI) National University of Singapore
  • Ching Hui Sia (co-PI), National University Heart Centre Singapore
  • Pham Hieu (co-PI), College of Engineering and Computer Science, VinUniversity 
  • Marni Azira Markom (co-PI), Universiti Malaysia Perlis

The award recognizes their joint research project titled:
