Dr. Pham Huy Hieu, Principal Investigator at the VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center (VISHC), has been invited to serve as an Area Chair for MICCAI 2026. This is one of the world’s leading conferences in medical image computing and computer-assisted intervention.
MICCAI 2026 (the 29th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention) will be held on October 4 – 8, 2026 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
As part of the MICCAI 2026 program committee, Area Chairs contribute to the scientific quality of the conference by monitoring and managing the review process for a set of submissions, making recommendations for paper acceptance, and identifying high-quality papers for highlights (e.g., oral presentations and awards), in coordination with the Program Chairs and fellow Area Chairs.
In addition, Dr. Hieu will join the Advisory Board of the MICCAI Open Data Special Interest Group (SIG). In this role, he will provide high-level strategic advice on the direction of the SIG and keep the Board informed of relevant activities within the MICCAI community and beyond.
This invitation reflects Dr. Hieu’s continued contributions to the MICCAI community and medical imaging research ecosystem. Specifically, in 2025, he organized a MICCAI-related training activity in Hanoi to support 50 students in medical imaging, and delivered invited talks in Korea.
