On July 8, 2025, VinUniversity held its Vingroup Scholarship Award Ceremony, celebrating a new cohort of talented graduate students and researchers who will be trained to become future leaders in Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, and Smart Healthcare.
Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest conglomerate with a strategic focus on technology, industry, and services, has committed up to $14 million over 10 years to support the Vingroup Innovation and Smart Health Center (VISHC). This funding will provide full scholarships — including tuition, stipends, and research support — for 50 Master’s students, 50 PhD students, and 10 postdoctoral scholars from Vietnam. These scholars will be able to study and conduct cutting-edge research at VISHC, based at VinUniversity and UIUC.
As part of the Vingroup Scholarship Award Ceremony 2025, which honored recipients of various prestigious scholarship programs, VISHC Fellowship recognized 10 outstanding fellows, including 06 Master’s students in Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering, and 04 Ph.D. students in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, and Kinesiology. These scholarships, fully funded by Vingroup, cover tuition, stipends, and research support, enabling recipients to study and conduct research at VinUniversity and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).
Throughout the ceremony, awardees shared their gratitude and aspirations, reflecting the program’s mission of nurturing high-quality human resources capable of making impactful contributions to Vietnam’s scientific and technological development.
For Le Minh Huyen, Master’s student in Electrical and Computer Engineering, receiving the Vingroup Scholarship is “a distinct honor providing invaluable opportunities to enhance my academic pursuits within a world-class research environment.” Huyen expressed determination to “make the most out of this precious opportunity to contribute to my field and the advancement of my country.”
Similarly, Than Tra My, Ph.D. student in Kinesiology, emphasized that “the Vingroup Scholarship is more than just an individual opportunity – it’s a bridge to the future.” As Vietnam’s pioneer in Kinesiology, Tra My is committed to “transforming this privilege into a pathway for the next generation of passionate researchers.”
These reflections embody VISHC’s core mission: to develop a generation of elite scientists who will not only advance Vietnam’s capabilities in AI and healthcare technologies but also inspire and mentor the next wave of innovators.
By supporting these fellows, VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center and Vingroup reaffirm their dedication to training outstanding Vietnamese talents, empowering them to create solutions for global health challenges and positioning Vietnam as a leader in smart healthcare innovation.
