RECAP “AI FOR HEALTHCARE 2025” WORKSHOP

On July 12, the VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center (VISHC), in collaboration with AI4LIFE Institute – Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), successfully hosted the AI FOR HEALTHCARE 2025” workshop. The event was proudly supported by Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VinIF).

 

Gathering over 150 researchers, clinicians, healthcare experts, tech executives, engineers, and students, the workshop became a vibrant platform to explore the latest breakthroughs in AI-driven healthcare, from diagnostics to treatment and personalized care.

💡 The workshop served as a bridge between medical professionals and technology researchers, sparking innovative, practical, and scalable ideas to transform Vietnam’s healthcare system.

 

🎤 HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE WORKSHOP:

🔹 Prof. Do Ngoc Minh (UIUC & VinUni) showcased cutting-edge advancements in real-time tumor detection during surgery and digital 3D tumor modeling for drug testing and precision medicine.
🔹 Dr. Pham Huy Hieu (VinUni) introduced a novel approach to building low-cost, scalable digital health platforms for low- and middle-income countries.
🔹 Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Phi Le (AI4LIFE, HUST) shared insights on the strengths and limitations of Vision-Language Models (VLMs) in interpreting medical imaging data.
🔹 Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa Huyen (VinUni) presented a digital solution for post-surgical cancer patient care and symptom tracking.
🔹 Dr. Thai Mai Thanh (VinUni) explored the use of robotics in modern medical applications.
🔹 Dr. Tran Phung Huy Nhat (AstraZeneca Innovation Hub) discussed telehealth solutions for early diagnosis and better patient management, especially in preventive medicine.
🔹 Dr. Do Thanh Ha (PTIT) revealed new findings on applying foundation models to medical image segmentation.

Through this event, VISHC (VinUni) and AI4LIFE (HUST) reaffirmed their commitment to impact-driven, interdisciplinary research, aiming to connect academia, healthcare, and the tech industry in building a robust national digital health ecosystem, bringing real solutions closer to the people.
