Call For Master’s Programs With The University Of Illinois At Urbana-Champaign

About UIUC

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) is a public research university in Illinois, U.S. that was founded in 1867. With over 35,000 undergraduate and 20,500 graduate students, UIUC is one of the largest public universities by enrollment in the U.S. The university contains 16 schools and colleges and offers more than 150 undergraduate and over 100 graduate programs of study. The university holds 651 buildings on 2,578 ha and its annual operating budget in 2016 was over $2 billion. The alumni, faculty members, or researchers of the university have been awarded 24 Nobel Prizes, 29 Pulitzer Prizes, and the Fields Medal in Mathematics.

 

According to the U.S News & World Report’s Graduate and Undergraduate Rankings, the Grainger College of Engineering at UIUC is ranked 5th in undergraduate and 7th in graduate overall. The graduate programs in Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering are all ranked in the top 5.

 

Eligibility

  • Full-time 4th-year VinUni students in good academic, or recent VinUni graduates
  • Meet all UIUC graduate admission and English proficiency requirements
  • Must complete all required undergraduate courses before starting the program at UIUC
  • No major disciplinary actions pending at the time of application

 

Application Procedure

  • Step 1: Students submit their applications to the Global Exchange Application Portal by the application deadline. Please follow the attached application instructions when applying via the application portal.
  • Step 2: Applications will be evaluated and interviewed by the VISHC Review Committee.
  • Step 3: Evaluation results will be announced to students for nomination acceptance.
  • Step 4: VinUni/VISHC sends the list of nominated students to UIUC.
  • Step 5: Nominated students submit their applications to UIUC following their application process by January 15, 2026.
  • Step 6: UIUC reviews the nominations/applications, makes the final decision, and issues the Letter of Acceptance to the successful students following their review timelines.
  • Step 7: The Vingroup Scholarship Review Committee will conduct the interview for each of the applicants and announce the result to students for scholarship acceptance.

 

Available Degree Programs

These are thesis-based master’s programs suited for VinUni undergraduate students who are considering careers in industry as well as those planning to pursue PhD.

 

Scholarships/Financial Support

Through the Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Program, VinUni will provide up to five (5) master’s scholarships for Vietnamese students selected by VISHC.

Each scholarship covers full financial support for one (1) year of Master’s study at UIUC, which includes:

  • A USD 20,000 annual stipend, and
  • A USD 13,000 cost-of-education allocation paid directly to UIUC.
