The Operations Department at the VinUni–Illinois Smart Health Center (VISHC) has recently undergone several updates to support our growing research community better. 

A Refreshed Team Structure

We are delighted to share that Ms. Cao Thi Kim Nhung has been appointed Center Manager, after having contributed to the Center’s development since its early days as Center Coordinator. In her new role, Ms. Nhung will continue to oversee all operational and administrative activities across projects, ensuring smooth coordination among teams and partners.
We also welcome Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang, who recently joined VISHC as Center Coordinator. Ms. Hang will support finance, logistics, and research administration, serving as a key contact point for researchers and collaborators in their daily operations.

The Operations team will continue to be the main contact point for all matters related to administration, finance, and logistics within the Center.

What Operations Does

The Operations Department plays a key role in ensuring the smooth daily functioning of VISHC through four main service areas:

• Administration & Office Operations: Managing facilities, office assets, and logistics for meetings and events; supporting onboarding and offboarding for researchers, postdocs, and interns.
• Finance & Budget Management: Overseeing project expenditures, reimbursements, advances, and fellowship stipends; supporting PIs and research teams in financial planning.
• Research Support Services: Handling contracts, procurement, and HR coordination for RAs, Postdocs, and Visiting Scholars; providing visa, insurance, and housing support for international researchers.
• Conference & Event Management: Coordinating scientific workshops, symposiums, and conferences, from logistics and budgeting to registration and publication of proceedings.

Moving Forward

With these updates, the Operations Department aims to strengthen internal coordination, improve response times, and provide a more seamless experience for all researchers and collaborators at VISHC.
